The Billings Estate is found in Ottawa South (2100 Cabot Street) - once you get off busy Riverside Drive and turn onto this city of Ottawa property you feel like you have travelled back in time by 180 years when the Billings home was built. WEBSITE
The OC Transpo Transitway was built behind (and below) the estate property and, while you will hear the sound of busses going by when you are in the parking lot, you don't notice it on the northern side of the main house where wedding ceremonies take place.
There are several locations on the north end of the property to have your ceremony in. The first, and most common is under the large oak tree. This is a preferred spot because the surrounding trees cast plenty of shade on everyone. The other main location is in the garden, due to the brightness of the sun in this area at mid day I'd suggest having an early morning or early evening wedding in the garden. The on site tent is available for weddings and you can bring in your preferred caterer. However your party may need to finish earlier than you may have anticipated in your plans; everything you put in the tent and elsewhere (decor, tables. chairs, linens etc.) must be removed before you leave.
The early summer of 2012 was very dry in Ottawa and, this being a city of Ottawa Property, the watering of the grounds follows water conservation policies of the city. This being said, they do a great job on the garden and it has an English Garden Party feel to it that makes for a Jane Austen atmosphere for you and your guests.
